A love affair with an improbable mentor saves aspiring soprano, Nora Costello, from total despair when her brother Liam dies in Vietnam.

Nora learns the price of chasing her dream--and discovers strengths she never imagined in this poignant coming-of-age novel about "friendship, family, and faith" (author Stephanie Cowell, MARRYING MOZART).

But will she choose Broadway, her first love, or take a riskier path toward opera?

Set in 1970, THE VOICE I JUST HEARD takes place near the historic mill town of Cohoes, NY, at the junction of the Mohawk and Hudson Rivers. It depicts the Cohoes Falls, the second largest waterfall in New York State, and incorporates the Legend of the Peacemaker, passed down through Iroquois oral tradition. Also featured is Thomas Moore's 1804 poem, "Lines written at the Cohos, or Falls of the Mohawk," which Liam and Nora admire.

The novel has earned 15 Five-Star Reviews from readers:
