LUCKY FOR YOU, A Novel (in progress)

The place is suburban Maryland and the time is now. Kerry Kerwin longs for a baby to love while Reverend Liz Benedetto yearns for a fresh start in her new community. The two woman form a friendship when Kerry takes custody of two children whose Army officer parents have been deployed overseas and Liz assumes the headship of a small Episcopal school.

In alternating chapters, from their separate points of view, these protagonists learn humorous and painful truths about themselves as each also meets an unlikely potential mate. But helping children navigate the challenges of primary school is at the heart of this story about parenting. Kerry and Liz handle problems from bullying to preteen sexting, and one of them sadly decides she may not enjoy endless hours with children, after all.
